Experience Beautiful & Rugged North Norfolk.
-
Within a picturesque 10-20 minute drive through the Norfolk countryside are the beautiful coastal marshes of Blakeney, Morston and Stiffkey and the golden sands of Wells-Next-the-Sea and Holkham. Explore with lazy beach days and hire a beach hut (try The Happy Huts and Stay Next The Sea) or simply explore the beautiful coastal path and take in the incredible scenery and wildlife.
Brancaster beach lies a little further beyond at a 25 minute drive. Combine a trip here with a visit to the pretty town of Burnham Market.
Whilst at the coast why not try paddle boarding (available from many locations but our favourites are Blakeney and Burnham Overy - contact Steve at North Norfolk Paddle Boards) or for something really special contact Zoe at Sail North Norfolk and hire Selkie for a truly special trip out on the water. Booking highly recommended.
-
It really is difficult to know where to start! Explore the coastline with plenty of walks, crabbing, mudsliding or cycling. Recommended walks include: Blakeney to Cley, Burnham Overy to Holkham, Holkham to Wells but any part of this coastline will put a spring in your step. There is excellent crabbing at high tide from Blakeney or Stiffkey.
A trip to Holkham Hall and its grounds are a must as well as Blickling Hall, Felbrigg Hall or Houghton Hall. The Sandringham estate has lots to offer for all the family too. Check online for opening hours.
Take a boat to visit the seals at Blakeney Point. Try Beans or Temples.
For something special visit coastalexplorationcompany.com or Sail North Norfolk for memorable bespoke sailing trips.

A short walk from the cottage is the beautiful Hindringham Hall and gardens (check opening times online). Binham Priory in the neighbouring village is a majestic sight and now has the excellent Parlour cafe next door for fabulous breakfasts and lunches. You can also collect some Raw Milk and cheese from the Dairy. Or pop into the Binham Chequers for some local ale.
Walsingham Farm Shop is worth a trip to stock up on provisions. The Thursford Collection also has lots to offer throughout the year (including their famous Christmas shows).
-
You'll be spoilt for choice but our favourites are the White Horse Brancaster, the Dun Cow Salthouse, the Carpenters Arms Wighton, the Moorings Blakeney, the Stiffkey Red Lion, Wells Crab House, the Victoria Inn (Holkham) the Morston Anchor and the Wiveton Cafe at Wiveton Hall.
Award winning Socius in Burnham Market and Michelin starred Meadowsweet are worth a trip to Norfolk in and of themselves. The Gunton Arms and Suffield Arms are also worth a visit.
Afternoon tea at the Blakeney Hotel and the Sandringham Estate come highly recommended.
-
There’s excellent coffee and fresh croissants from Stiffkey Stores, the Crab rolls from the Crab Hut (Brancaster) are not to be missed, and there’s competition for the best fish and chips between French's or Plattens (Wells) or Eric's (Holt). The Lookout in Holkham does a great sausage roll and a good choice of sandwiches. We’ve a fabulous selection of farm shops at Walsingham and Letheringsett and great Delis in Holt (check out Star Plain Stores).
-
Visit Burnham Market, slow-paced Blakeney or Cley, or a trip to the town of Holt will not disappoint.
-
If the beaches aren’t enough there's also Pensthorpe Nature Reserve, ROARR dinosaur land, the SeaLife centre in Hunstanton, the Sandringham Estate, Wiveton Cafe, Thursford Collection, Doodlepots, Walsingham Light Railway, the Poppy Line Holt to Sheringham, the arcades at Wells Langham Glass. Try the play parks at Holkham and the Sandringham Estate to keep them amused for half a day. Bewilderwood should also be on your list.
For teens why not try out some surfing lessons? The list goes on! Keep an eye on our social media for updates.

No, not at all. Whilst Crown Cottage Norfolk has been kitted out to suit families, it is very much still a property for grownups. The property is extremely well suited to two couples (who would have a bedroom and bathroom each: one on the ground floor and one on the first floor). It is also ideal for a family wanting to bring along the grandparents.
